While developing it may mean hard work, you can adopt particular steps and strategies to help you build your self-confidence.&lt;br /&gt;Learn from past mistakes. Don't allow your past mistakes to keep weighing you down. They are lessons, providing you the stepping stones and the higher vantage point from which to acquire more knowledge and wisdom. Although you would not want to make the same mistake again, be generous with yourself and acknowledge that you are not quite perfect.&lt;br /&gt;Speak confident. In your conversations, it pays to use positive terms consistently. Even if you may have some concerns, say simply that you will be something done or that you'll get it finished on time. This inculcates confidence inside you, and increases your chances of accomplishing the task. Practice speaking without resorting to qualifiers: do without ifs and buts, remove the maybes, stop saying I'm not sure.&lt;br /&gt;Look confident. No matter how you may feel on a particular day, groom yourself as if everything is dapper and you are on top of the world. Stand erect as if you are an inch taller and walk confidently, stride firm and conveying a sense of purpose. Walking with head up and maintaining good eye contact makes others more confident in you. The positive feedback you get will build your confidence.&lt;br /&gt;Start a conversation. It is never easy starting a conversation with people you don't know, but it is a good exercise so make yourself do it. All relationships begin as strangers. Initiating a conversation with a stranger at a gathering, whether it's a party or a conference, will build your confidence. Don't worry, they'll not run away; they may be grateful for your interest in them. This will make people see you as self-confident person, and treat you that way.&lt;br /&gt;Be ready for discussions. One way of preparing yourself to handle tough situations (at meetings, interviews, or conversations) is to rehearse ahead of time. Write some notes about possible questions and your responses. If you usually find yourself at a loss of for words, especially in social situations, play through 'small talk' topics about which you chat or ask questions. Often, what matters most is that you are able to speak with confidence about something.&lt;br /&gt;Emulate self-confident people. Observe the self-confident people you know and look for behavior that you like. It could be in the things they say, the way they work, or how they carry themselves. Select one behavior at a time and try to integrate it into your own personality. If self-confidence in others catches your eye, you may have the capacity for more of it in yourself: the qualities that attract us usually indicate the capacities that remain underdeveloped in us.&lt;br /&gt;Building self-confidence primarily involves discovering the things that make you feel good about yourself, and then doing them more frequently. It means showing yourself and others that you have accomplished things and will continue doing so; at the start, no accomplishment is too insignificant. I'm about to help you resolve this.&lt;br /&gt;The first step is to understand and accept that you can be happy. That you do have a passion that you can follow. That your passion and what you enjoy will allow you to live a happy fulfilled life.&lt;br /&gt;Why?&lt;br /&gt;Because when you follow your passion, your spirit, or your higher self, or that part of you that is not tied to the ego--is in control. It is happy and doing what it was meant to do.. For example, they turn 16 years old and they get in a car accident the day they get their driver's license. Or they are walking on the street and a car passes by them and splashes them with a muddy puddle, staining their clothing. Or a bird flies overhead and....well, you get the picture.&lt;br /&gt;Do you ever wonder why some people just seem to have good things happen to them and some people seem to have bad things happen? Don't attribute it to luck, there really is no such thing. The effects of a positive attitude can be seen through these examples. The person who has good things happen to them focuses on good things happening to them, resulting in more good things. The person that has bad things happen to them is always thinking about the next bad thing. So it shouldn't be a surprise when those bad things continue to happen. How can you foster the effects of a positive attitude?&lt;br /&gt;The effects of a positive attitude start today. Plant the seed every day and see what comes of it by taking action on the following:&lt;br /&gt;Where ever you are look for positive people to mingle with or befriend - surround yourself with other positive thinkers&lt;br /&gt;Read motivational/inspirational material that generate positive emotions for you&lt;br /&gt;Make a conscious effort to focus and reflect upon the positive value you learned that day&lt;br /&gt;Interact with others in a positive manner&lt;br /&gt;Make a list of goals and objectives&lt;br /&gt;You are as you think&lt;br /&gt;You will soon see that the effects of a positive attitude reap more benefits than could ever be imagined. I'll show you how shortly. For now, however, let's try improving your life in ten days - so you don't feel pressured. We'll return, soon, to our original premise - how to improve your life in one action-packed day.&lt;br /&gt;1965 the California-based Wilshire Book Company, published William E. Edward's book "10 Days to a Great New Life. "It shows how a few simple actions performed for ten days can change your whole life," publisher Melvin Powers wrote in its introduction.&lt;br /&gt;"It doesn't matter how badly things are going for you," Powers indicates. "These actions can change things fast."&lt;br /&gt;One way to multiply the ways in which we exist, Edwards writes, "Is to write down our goals." Why write them down? "You'll have the feeling that someone is working things out with you every step of the way."&lt;br /&gt;"Get a statement of your goal on paper. Writing goals gets them across to our 'inner mind' and the inner mind accepts them. As we write them down, we fan the flames by follow-up." Spend two minutes each day, for the next ten days, re-reading and visualizing your goals.&lt;br /&gt;"It is impossible to estimate the number of people who dreamed of goals inconsistent with their talents," publisher Melvin Powers writes in the book's forward. Make sure you're goals are consistent with your abilities.&lt;br /&gt;Learn to trust yourself, Edwards says, but how do you learn this type of trust? Saying "I trust myself" over and over won't give it to you. This is not the answer. "Many people feel soft and weak inside," Edwards writes. "They can't count on themselves to see things through. This knowledge you can rely on yourself," to do what you promise yourself you'll do for the next ten days, "is the basis of self-reliance."&lt;br /&gt;"When a person can't have faith in himself he places it somewhere else," Edwards says. Echoing what Powers wrote in the book's forward, Edwards declares that "Some goals are set so high we cannot even take the first faltering steps toward their realization."&lt;br /&gt;"10 Days to a Great New Life" delivers to its readers a method Edwards devised "for daily reinfusing ourselves with our own written promises to keep our dreams alive."&lt;br /&gt;Another technique, for the next ten days, is "Jot down on a pad the points you want your contact with someone to cover. 'Pad and points' will make you stand out at a business meeting. Hold a mental rehearsal of each point before you meet your person. You'll get attention, respect, and often co-operation." At the end of the meeting, Edwards urges his readers find a place and write down the results of that meeting or interview. Review and learn from these experiences.&lt;br /&gt;For ten days readers are encouraged jot down in a notebook all "show-throughs" of talent they discover about themselves. A woman who did this exercise found she had a talent for telling people about the books she read and it was a revelation to her. You will feel "a surge of confidence rushing in as you feel the strength of your talents in action," Edwards says.&lt;br /&gt;During each of the next ten days, write down something new you've learned. "To release the mind's enormous potential for getting ideas, jot down all the ideas you can think of on a given subject. A list like that can yield a jackpot. This kind of list," Edwards believes, "can be made up in a half-hour and the benefits could be incalculable. It's a way to wake-up your life."&lt;br /&gt;"How," you may wonder, can I supply myself with "exciting new information each day for the next ten days?" Edwards' answer is to "clip out one item from a newspaper or magazine and paste it into a scrapbook. You will quickly become the person others look to for ideas. Around you, you'll notice their voltage is enormously stepped up."&lt;br /&gt;"Our own good estimate of ourselves depends in part on the feeling the things we know are of real significance - and a scrapbook gives us a fund of material that is highly significant to us," Edwards writes. "It's amazing how a person can use can use, let's say 365 new items collected over the period of a year and chosen because they have special meaning." You'll never lack for ideas to talk about, the neat thing being your acquaintances won't know about the scrapbook.&lt;br /&gt;For the next ten days make a list of all the factors that might affect a decision you're facing. For example: "I want to purchase a home."&lt;br /&gt;The next ten days ask yourself, "Will this expenditure further me in reaching my financial goal? The question," Edwards says, "brings you up a dozen times a day while making you mentally picture your goal."&lt;br /&gt;During this time be sure to insure your financial success in all your transactions "by giving king-sized portions of service," Edwards says. Two advantages you'll instantly notice are that giving king-sized portions of service is a way to drive out fear of failing and, secondly, you become your own bookkeeper.&lt;br /&gt;My favorite exercise in "10 Days to a Great New Life" is this one: "To break through the barrier that limits the size of your thinking, imagine you're suddenly faced with the necessity of doing things on ten times the scale you're now operating."&lt;br /&gt;For ten days watch that you don't get enmeshed in inconsequential details. Ask yourself, "What is the heart of the problem?" Edwards cites the example of an executive who spent the first few months in his new position enmeshed in the inconsequential details of a new floor plan for his department. "That's not what his department needed from him. It needed his vision. The ability to see what really matters makes one person electric in everything he [or she] touches."&lt;br /&gt;For the next ten days ask yourself, "What are the things that really matter?" It is so easy, Edwards says, to get "all wrapped up in the little side show" that excuses us from going into the main tent.&lt;br /&gt;Look during this time for a supply of rich opportunities, one or more of which may make you a lot of money if acted on. "Whenever you hear anyone complain about anything, ask yourself this question: 'What opportunity is hidden within this complaint?'" The right attitude in such cases, Edwards says, "is pure magic."&lt;br /&gt;Let's explore, now, what I'm calling Edwards' Massive Action Technique:&lt;br /&gt;Need faster results? You don't have ten days to wait to solve your crisis? Let's say, for the sake of example, you need more money and you need it fast. "To improve your circumstances rapidly," no matter what they are, here's the technique Edwards proposes: "Map out a one day program that calls for going all-out on your current set-up, whether you like the set-up or not."&lt;br /&gt;What this means is, as I read it, you'll be amazed if you dedicate 10 full hours to calling your bank and changing your debit card pin number, calling 60 phone numbers you retrieve from the yellow pages and seeing if you can land yourself a job, filing papers, cleaning the house, whatever the task you're facing but have been putting off - it is astonishing what you can accomplish in hiring yourself to work ten straight hours to bring order back to your life. This, essentially, is what Edwards is saying.&lt;br /&gt;"The thing that causes our unhappiness is this: We will not use today because it doesn't suit us," he writes. Edwards then cites the example of a man who was so unhappy with his job that he planned to quit at the end of the day. He decided to rewrite some of the form letters his company sent out "and the act of doing so revitalized him." Here's the payoff: "For the first time in two years Bill had held his job, he felt free to take steps to get out of it. This one day program changed everything for him in a matter of hours."&lt;br /&gt;Once we stop fighting today and start to use it we find ourselves filled with hope. "Before the day was over, Fred began to feel hopeful about the future. Hopeful goals for the future rise rapidly out of full engagement with the present."&lt;br /&gt;Edwards says we don't have to find "a formula that will solve all your problems for the rest of your life. Nobody says you've got to like your current conditions - but you've got to use them - even to get out of them. Your statement, then, is: 'Just for today I'm going to'" and you fill in the blanks for 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10. - the number of things you're requiring yourself to get done that day. "You can change things - fast! The key is," Edwards claims, "you've got to get living again."&lt;br /&gt;When we're stuck in a rut, it's easy to stay in that rut and to make very logical excuses for doing so. "You can know a score of subjects academically, be able to discuss a thousand books - and still be ineffective. The reason is simply this," Edwards claims. "Such people are locked within the 'circle of knowing' and until they can move into the 'circle of doing' they are without practical power. Here is where this book comes crashing through."&lt;br /&gt;"10 Days to a Great New Life" shows us how to "bring your powers into play within the framework of your current set-up. That someone is your thinking mind."&lt;br /&gt;Eventually You'll Come Up for Air&lt;br /&gt;Taylor goes on to say that not only do we have our thinking mind (our brain) to help us along the way, but we also have our spirit (that little voice inside). We have that inner "umph" that will serve to guide us where we need to go, if we just listen. We are living in the "divine flow", and we can choose to go upstream or we can choose to go downstream.&lt;br /&gt;Living with faith means that your life is, will, and always was happening perfectly. For some, this is a hard realization. Everything that has happened up to this point has occurred in perfect order. As you row your boat through the stream of life, the stream may offer many challenges: it could be slow and easy, it could be sharp and bumpy, or it could sink you momentarily. But having faith means understanding that that is how the stream works - it just is that way. When the stream takes you under momentarily, just as with the divine order of life, you will eventually come up for air.&lt;br /&gt;You Gotta Have Faith, Faith, Faith&lt;br /&gt;A well-known criminologist said, "When people first come into contact with crime, they abhor it. If they remain in contact with crime for a time, they become accustomed to it and endure it. If they remain in contact with it for long enough, they finally embrace it, and become influenced by it." Keeping your eye focused on what you want, visualizing, and having faith it will happen, will cause your beliefs to change; hence, your life will change.&lt;br /&gt;The influence you have over yourself and those around you is given power by the faith you possess. When you desire something and yet don't have faith you're going to have it, then you won't.&lt;br /&gt;In order to get what you want, you must resolve to rid your life of all negative influences, unless of course you want a life of negativity. Build the life you want; the Universe is your catalogue. Having faith takes courage because you'll want to resort back to negative thinking and feeling, especially when you receive criticism from others - and you will! You will have to have extremely good self-confidence to have faith.&lt;br /&gt;There are five sure-fire ways to gain and attain self confidence. Use this as a guide, grow strong, and develop your faith in the attainment of your desires:&lt;br /&gt;1. Demand greatness out of yourself.&lt;br /&gt;Continue to be persistent and have continuous forward action toward the attainment of your wants, no matter what. This is a hard task to accomplish when you don't see what you want happening right away, but it is essential to keep your eye on the prize.&lt;br /&gt;2. Visualize your new life.&lt;br /&gt;Create a mental picture of the person you want to be and the life you want to have, then visualize that person and new life daily. When you want something different for your life, you have to know what it is. If you don't know what it is, you can't continually keep that vision in your mind's eye. Figure out your purpose, know what you want, then create the picture and keep it stuck in your vision constantly.&lt;br /&gt;3. Demand self-confidence.&lt;br /&gt;Since we know that what we hold in our thoughts continually will become a new belief and hence the reality of our life, it only stands to reason that we should demand better self-confidence of ourselves. Our self-confidence will keep us persistent, even in the face of criticism. When you visualize your new life with persistence, it will come to pass.&lt;br /&gt;4. Write your purpose.&lt;br /&gt;Clearly write your purpose in life, and never stop aiming to attain that purpose. Your purpose will appropriately guide you to not only more self-confidence, but to the life you ultimately desire.&lt;br /&gt;5. Do away with the negative influences.&lt;br /&gt;Eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism by developing love for all humanity. A negative attitude toward others will never bring you success. Others will believe in you and your cause when you believe in them, and in yourself.&lt;br /&gt;Negative thinking is disastrous and will never help you gain what you want out of your life. You cannot have negativity and be living your life's true purpose - it just will never happen. You can, however, have desire, faith, and persistence which will guide you to your life's purpose.&lt;br /&gt;Having faith means having courage. Having courage means keeping a laser focus on your desires. Knowing your desires and exercising your faith that what you want will come to you, really is an essential step in the process of attaining the life you desire - a life guided by your purpose. It is during periods of self-awareness that people get the closest to knowing themselves objectively.&lt;br /&gt;Self-awareness plays a large role in behavior, as it is common to act differently when people are in a crowd. It is the basis for human traits, such as accountability and conscientiousness. Self-awareness affects people in varying degrees, as some people self-monitor themselves more than others.&lt;br /&gt;Self-awareness is the recognition of our personality, our strengths and weaknesses, our likes and dislikes. Developing self-awareness can help us to recognise when we are stressed or under pressure. It is also often a prerequisite for effective communication and interpersonal relations, as well as for developing empathy for others.&lt;br /&gt;When you know who you are, you may have to change; and some people just do not want to change because changing demands effort. Self-awareness requires honesty and courage, to get in touch with what we are thinking and feeling and to face the truth about ourselves. The better you understand yourself, the better you are able to accept or change who you are. Being in the dark about yourself means that you will continue to get caught up in your own internal struggles and allow outside forces to mould and shape you.&lt;br /&gt;The starting point should be the knowledge of oneself as a unique individual and how one relates to this new world. The clarity with which you can answer these questions: Who am I? Where have I been? Where am I going? will determine your capability to chart your own destiny and realise your potential.&lt;br /&gt;In your quest to know yourself, do not think of yourself more highly than you are, rather have a realistic view of your strengths. On the other hand, do not exaggerate your weaknesses and look down on yourself. Also, do not excuse or rationalise your weaknesses. We need a realistic view of both our strengths and weaknesses if we are to know our true selves.&lt;br /&gt;How we see ourselves may be clouded by the feedback messages we received about ourselves from others. But how could anyone know more about you than you? They do not feel your emotions or think your thoughts; they do not face the issues that you wrestled with. No one could know you better than you. Therefore, do not let others look down on you.&lt;br /&gt;Remember what I said earlier that some people may not be prepared to face the truth about themselves. This may be true of you. Therefore, you must be prepared to listen to others, especially significant others and allow them to jolt you to re-examine your own perceived self-image.&lt;br /&gt;There are no perfect people and there are no perfect parents. Nevertheless, from a practical viewpoint, our parents, who gave birth to us have the opportunity to observe us at close quarters over many years, would have a clearer insight of our character than anybody else. You don't have to accept their views but at least listen to them.&lt;br /&gt;With the following questions you can start your personal process of self awareness, think about the questions carefully, before formulating your answers and then write down your answers, so that you can review them afterwards, in your own private moments and maybe add more substance to the answers.&lt;br /&gt;Can you describe your personality? If yes, then write it downWhat are your strengths? What are your weaknesses?How do your friends describe you? Do you agree with their descriptions? Why or why not?List two situations when you are most at ease. What specific elements were present when you felt that way?What types of activities did you enjoy doing when you were a child? What about now?What motivates you? Why?What are your dreams for the future? What steps are you taking to achieve your dreams?What do you fear most in your life? Why?What stresses you? What is your typical response to stress?What qualities do you like to see in people? Why? Do you have many friends as you just described? Why or why not?When you disagree with someone's viewpoint, what would you do?&lt;br /&gt;Now you will have, maybe for the first time in your life, written down in front of you, who you are and what you think about yourself.&lt;br /&gt;Review what you have said and highlight the things that you do not like about yourself, think about how you can change the things that you do not want to be. Once you have completed reviewing your personal assessment of yourself, sit down with a person that you really trust and discuss what you have written about yourself.&lt;br /&gt;You will be surprised how good a feeling you get when you do this, you will have a sense of lightness and relief, you will laugh a lot and you will start to make actions for the future, your future, your life, your dreams and your destiny. And so on...&lt;br /&gt;All these types of questions above will guide and lead us to higher vibration, lighter being’s of love, when asked in honest desire to know.&lt;br /&gt;I know that for me to grow; it is only up to me and no one can do it for me.&lt;br /&gt;Growth is self-response-ability.&lt;br /&gt;I alone am the only one that can find what self love means to me.&lt;br /&gt;So,&lt;br /&gt;What does it mean to love the self?&lt;br /&gt;If I were asked, "what does it mean to love the self?"I would say that the answer comes in stages as consciousness evolves. Even if we were to know the complete answer the first time the question was asked, once we know the answer, we do not need to ask the question.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, where is love for the self?Love for the self is within the self, it is the self.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, where is the self to love?The self to love is deep down at the core of oneself, within the awakened consciousness that is beyond the ego. The self comes from a place of non-attachment and freedom from separateness.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, what is the self that is loved?The self that is loved is love and life force. The self is the reflection of all the beauty of life and is not attached to the idea of being the self.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, what is the love of the self?Love of the self is joy, is bliss, is health, is beauty, is greatness, is wise, is the way to God, is God, is You.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, why is there a self to love? There is a self to love because this is the way we want it. The self to love exists because that is all there is, there is nothing else, and the reason is to love the self.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, why love the self?&lt;br /&gt;To love the self is to live life to the fullest, because it feels so good; loving the self feels the best. To love the self is the only way to happiness and health—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, how do we love the self?&lt;br /&gt;We love the self by being kind to the self, by learning what the self is, and becoming passionate—even fanatical—about the self, what it wants and needs, by spending time alone going over all the beautiful parts of our self. We love the self only by taking responsibility for our self and having self-respect.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, how does the self love?&lt;br /&gt;The self loves by choice, by free will, by the desire to feel good and to avoid pain. The self loves by its own actions. The self loves itself with compassion.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, when do we love the self?&lt;br /&gt;I think a better question is, "is now a good time to love the self?” “When” is a funny thing; there is only now.&lt;br /&gt;We would have to ask, when does the self love?&lt;br /&gt;The self loves when we are present in the moment, and experiencing love by feeling good.&lt;br /&gt;To love the self means to honor and respect the self, to make it a lifelong practice to love the self, to always see and enjoy the beauty within the self, to go deep into the self to know and remember one’s hidden depths, to accept oneself. It means being love, expressing love, and knowing that one is perfect in all one’s imperfections. Fear is often justified, but just as often not. It is justified fear that helps you learn how to make safe decisions and act in a manner that is consistent with your personal safety. It is unjustified fear that can spin you out of control.&lt;br /&gt;Whether justified or not, fear can cause you to make wrong decisions and hold you back from advancement in your psychic and personal life.While it is hard, you will need to identify that which you fear. When you find that you are on auto-pilot and your reactions "just seem to happen," you will want to look deeper and identify what it is you may be afraid to confront. In other words, judge your response to things. If it appears you seem to be responding from fear, identify the fear.&lt;br /&gt;Everyone is familiar with the term "fight or flight," but there is a third possibility related to flight which is avoiding the issue or ignoring it. These responses to fear are habit forming, one may begin to avoid, ignore or flee from anything which might cause or resemble fear. Rather than fleeing, fighting, or avoiding the fearful, try and learn from your responses and develop better coping habits.&lt;br /&gt;Change, either external or internal, can lead to fear responses. Don't let fear dictate your response, but instead intensify and examine the fear which change is eliciting.Your subconscious mind has been trained by habit to respond your body and mind to certain fear stimuli. Your subconscious places you in a state of fear before you yourself have control over it. This subconscious conditioning, and the fearful memories of your past overwhelm and bewilder you. This is why you must begin to reprogram your subconscious on a deliberately conscious level. Use your conscious mind to take charge and re-habituate the subconscious responses.&lt;br /&gt;Fears can damage your true self. It can overwhelm and destroy self image. Determine whether the fear is appropriate. If it is it is life and limb saving. If it is not, then the response of fight, flee, or avoid, is inappropriate, and in need of change. Learn what it is about your conditions or yourself, which you are afraid to change. This is where unreasonable fears usually come from. Fear can dampen and destroy good intentions and desires. Fear can glue you to inaction. Internally, you may be afraid of some aspect of your life not being what it should be, or you may be afraid to find out that it is not what you want it to be.&lt;br /&gt;Fear can be based on a lot of different aspects of loss, the fear of losing respect, marriage, money life. We have come down out of the trees fearing predators, but now have learned to fear things within our own being. This is particularly hurtful, since fear is a primary survival technique.&lt;br /&gt;Fear is not evil in itself, it is a major source of power physically when strength is needed physically to survive a physical disaster. Self-preservation and fear are important allies. You may be able to boost someone else’s self-confidence, and they can also return the favor. Speak up when you have something important to say, and show everyone else that you are confident in everything you are saying. When you have a suggestion make sure you voice it, and stand by everything you have to say. It is a reaction to an inner emotion and not a planned action. The feelings underlying the anger reaction make us feel vulnerable and weak; anger makes us feel, at least momentarily, strong and in control, but anger can be devastating. One moment of madness can bring about lifetime of suffering and in vain repentance. To be more specific:&lt;br /&gt;• Anger sends marriages and other family relationships off-course.• Anger reduces our social skills, compromising other relationships, too.• Anger means losing business that you could have won in a more gracious mood.• Anger leads to increased stress.• We make mistakes when we are angry, because anger makes it harder to process information.&lt;br /&gt;Angry behaviors are learned over the life-span and therefore can be unlearned and replaced with healthier patterns of coping. To repress anger is unhealthy and yet to express it impulsively, as we so often do, may give momentary relief but inevitably will carry negative consequences. Here comes the anger management, following are some of the anger management techniques:&lt;br /&gt;• Learn to talk about your feelings - if you're afraid to talk or if you can't find the right words to describe what you're going through, find a trusted friend or adult to help you one-on-one.• Express yourself calmly - express criticism, disappointment, anger or displeasure without losing your temper or fighting. Ask yourself if your response is safe and reasonable.• Listen to others - listen carefully and respond without getting upset when someone gives you negative feedback. Ask yourself if you can really see the other person's point of view.• Negotiate - work out your problems with someone else by looking at alternative solutions and compromises.&lt;br /&gt;Detect and Prevent Anger&lt;br /&gt;There are very distinguishable physical manifestations of anger. If you are able to discern it you can pre-manage your anger by detecting and preventing your sliding into angry state of mindset. When you are angry, you would probably feel:&lt;br /&gt;• Muscle tension• Accelerated heartbeat• A "knot" or "butterflies" in your stomach• Changes in your breathing• Trembling• Goose bumps• Flushed in the face&lt;br /&gt;You can reduce the rush of adrenaline that's responsible for your heart beating faster, your voice sounding louder, and your fists clenching if you:&lt;br /&gt;• Take a few slow, deep breaths and concentrate on your breathing.• Imagine yourself at the beach, by a lake, or anywhere that makes you feel calm and peaceful.• Try other thoughts or actions that have helped you relax in the past.&lt;br /&gt;Keep telling yourself:&lt;br /&gt;• "Calm down."• "I don't need to prove myself."• "I'm not going to let him/her get to me."&lt;br /&gt;Stop. Consider the consequences. Think before you act. Try to find positive or neutral explanations for what that person did that provoked you. Take help of the people expert in providing stress management techniques, or join anger management classes, if you think you yourself are not capable of controlling your anger. As a famous explorer once said, "t is all very well knowing where you are going, but you also need to know how you're going to get there".&lt;br /&gt;Each goal will have its overall route map, but just as important is the plan for each day. What exactly are you going to do each day to move one day closer to your dream?&lt;br /&gt;Here are the three essentials any good day-plan must have.&lt;br /&gt;Manageable chunks. Each task needs to be broken down into smaller segments, known as chunks. The size of a chunk must be such that it can be completed in an hour or two. So if your daily plan calls for you to write a whole chapter of your book, then you must make sure that this is something you can reasonably be expected to complete in that time.&lt;br /&gt;If not then consider writing half a chapter or a set number of words instead. Why?&lt;br /&gt;Because variety is the spice of life. If your daily plan simply consists of a list of things which are all the same, then you will very soon tire of your task. Yes, writing a book does require a lot of similar work, but you will find it far more effective and more enjoyable if you can intersperse each chapter with other tasks.&lt;br /&gt;For example, try writing 1,000 words and then taking a break to spend an hour editing a previous chapter, or writing part of the index, or plotting the next part of the story or developing one of your character profiles.&lt;br /&gt;Divide your day into time slots. An effective plan recognizes two things. Firstly, that time discipline is necessary and secondly that it is not an exact science. When our self-esteem is low, we might be constantly negative about our performance, abilities, and worth. We might have frequent thoughts like: "I’m fat." "I can’t do that." "They don’t like me." "I messed up again. I always mess up." "I shouldn’t have done or said that." It is difficult to stop these thoughts, but it can be done with awareness and practice.&lt;br /&gt;The first step is to become aware of these thoughts. If you keep a notebook handy and write down your negative thoughts for a couple of days it can give you an idea as to the nature of how you criticize and undervalue yourself. You can then sit down and go over the criticisms one by one and address them. For instance, yes, it may be true that you are overweight, but surely there are several nice things you can say about your appearance. And you may have reason to be proud of the efforts you are making for your health. Cross out the negative comment and write these positive things down. Many of your criticisms of yourself you will find are not true. No one always messes up, and almost anything in life you can learn to do.&lt;br /&gt;Trying your best, no matter what the outcome, is worth respecting in yourself, whether that is what you do in a relationship, trying to lose weight, trying to do a good job, or attempting to do something new. Give yourself credit for doing your best. And thoughts such as, "They don’t like me," are made up. You don’t know they don’t like you, and often it doesn’t even matter if they don’t because there are people who do like and love you. Now that you have replaced some of your habitual criticisms of yourself with more truthful and positive statements, keep your notes handy for a while, and when you catch yourself criticizing, replace it with your new positive statements of yourself.&lt;br /&gt;Here is another thing you can do. Write down ten of your best qualities and memorize them. You might be for example: honest, kind, very intelligent, a hard worker, generous, a good parent, an A student, religiously faithful, a sincere friend, and diligent. Remind yourself of these qualities morning, noon, and night until they sink in, and add to the list. Do you sometimes feel guilty for not feeling guilty? Are you aware how this negative emotion is hurting others and you? Would you like to learn how to release your guilt feelings?&lt;br /&gt;As a Marriage, Family Therapist, I have learned how guilt feelings can cause numerous problems. This negative emotion hurt the men, women, and children in many areas of their lives. Through the HART (Holistic And Rapid Transformation) process I developed, I was able to assist them to uncover their unconscious guilt feelings and resolve their issues. Then they allowed themselves to be happy, healthy, and successful.&lt;br /&gt;Basically, guilt feelings imply that you are a bad person and you do not deserve whatever you desire. The following are specific ways this negative emotion can affect you and examples.&lt;br /&gt;Guilt can cause ….&lt;br /&gt;1) Low self-esteem. When Paul was a child, his parents had many arguments and he was often spanked. We discovered in his therapeutic sessions that he had unconsciously decided that he was responsible for their anger and pain. Therefore, he must be a bad person. The negative decision hurt Paul's self-esteem. He did not feel he deserved his wife's love and caring, and he unconsciously pushed her away. Paul felt terrible and so did his wife.&lt;br /&gt;2) Accidents. Tonya, a 21-year-old pretty blonde, discovered that she was in a serious car accident because she felt guilty for having so much when her friends and family had so little. The incident left her with a scar on her forehead.&lt;br /&gt;3) Disease. Mary realized that her physical problems started when she felt guilty for not being there for her mother when she was sick and died. Once she was able to forgive herself, her health improved dramatically.&lt;br /&gt;4) Financial problems. Gary had a very successful business until his son died of an overdose of drugs. He learned in a therapy session that he felt guilty for his son's death, because he was too busy to spend time with him.&lt;br /&gt;5) Overweight problems. When Sandy was exploring the emotional causes of her weight issues in our therapy sessions, she said, "I am a bad person, because I hurt my sister. I don't deserve to be slim."&lt;br /&gt;6) Relationship problems. John felt guilty for leaving his wife and children. He discovered in his therapy session that because he felt bad he was not allowing himself to commit to his girlfriend. Therefore, he was blocking his love and hurting himself and the woman he was involved with.&lt;br /&gt;7) Academic problems. Stan was extremely intelligent but refused to go to college. He realized that when he was beaten as a child, he decided that he was bad and did not deserve to succeed.&lt;br /&gt;Do you relate to any of the above issues? If you do, I suggest that you release your guilt in the following way:&lt;br /&gt;1) Say or write, "I feel guilty because ___" and finish the sentence.&lt;br /&gt;2) Then say or write, "I should (or should not) ____ (insert an action, thought, or feeling) or I am a bad person."&lt;br /&gt;3) Continue with the words, "I resent (the other side of guilt) ___" (insert an action, thought, or feeling).&lt;br /&gt;4) Finally, say or write, "I am ____ (insert an action, thought or feeling) and I am a good person."&lt;br /&gt;Example:&lt;br /&gt;1) I feel guilty because I do not call my mother every week.&lt;br /&gt;2) I should call my mother every week or I am a bad person.&lt;br /&gt;3) I resent having to call my mother every week.&lt;br /&gt;4) I am only calling my mother when I want to and I am a good person.&lt;br /&gt;Now that you are more conscious of guilt feelings, and you have learned how to resolve them, you can enjoy your life more and be safer and healthier. One of these could be ..."waiting until you know everything".&lt;br /&gt;I see it with many people. There is no clear action taken until they have all the information, and they would spend many weeks or even months, ringing around and asking all their contacts, hundreds of questions about setting up their planned project.&lt;br /&gt;If I had waited until I knew everything then there would be no monthly ezine at my site, there would be no terrific resources for you to peruse, I would not have met many of my wonderful clients and colleagues etc. In fact, there would be no Forward Steps Life Coaching because I still do not know everything, and I never will.&lt;br /&gt;To move beyond that and any manifestation of fear, my first step with coaching clients is always about getting clear one vital piece of information, and that is - what do they specifically want to accomplish?&lt;br /&gt;In completing exercises such as the 50 Life Power questions, 3 Top Goals exercise or the Coaching Orientation page (each found at the Forward Steps site), many people respond with only 3 or 4-word answers, and their responses often state what they do NOT want.&lt;br /&gt;That level of input in replying to an important first question will lead to determining a weak next action, for getting what they want. Sample responses to: "What do you want?" might be - I want a house, I want a relationship or I want more money. If I was a genie and gave you what you said you wanted (exactly as you asked it), I could give you a dollhouse, a few fun weeks spent with a nice person, and an extra dollar in your wallet. I'll then have fulfilled all that you asked.&lt;br /&gt;In turn, the types of actions necessary to get the things you want might then include, moving out of your current home, going to a singles club or getting a second job. Those actions will result in producing a very much watered-down semblance of what you want, however they will not provide a high level of certainty for getting you the things you really want, and in the way that you wanted them. One unclear response leads to another, when moving through the stages of planning a project.&lt;br /&gt;Now repeat the exercise by adding one or two additional descriptors to your "life shopping list". For example, I want to personally own a 4-bedroom home on the beach in Hawaii, I want a 40-year relationship with a loving partner, or I want a reliable, consistent, passive income of US$120,000 for the next 40 years. The actions that you might now suggest as being your next step would change considerably, and have much more power in getting you closer to your actual desires.&lt;br /&gt;Imagine if you added another 10 descriptors, emotions and detailed attributes to each of the things that you say you want. Your next action step would be even clearer to you, and would more confidently move you closer to your dream. The certainty thermometer would rise by hundreds of degrees.&lt;br /&gt;You always get out of anything, what you are willing to put into it. Those who respond to pertinent questions with brief, impromptu replies and then say that they got nothing from doing the exercise, never surprises me. People who have invested something of themselves by thinking a little more, spending more time and providing heart-felt responses usually express enthusiasm about what they got out of completing any questionnaire exercise. That too, is no surprise to me.&lt;br /&gt;If you have felt blocked in taking clearly defined actions toward a goal, and one of the ways that you slow the process further is by gathering more and more information, then perhaps it is time to revisit the most important question: "What do you want?"&lt;br /&gt;If you can get that one crystal clear, detailed to the smallest descriptor, emotion, feeling or attribute, and written down in a one or half page response then the next-step actions that you would need to take, will likely leap off the page at you!&lt;br /&gt;© 2007 Thea Westra is an international life coach who resides in Perth, Western Australia. Sometimes picking the actual goals you want to go after is harder than setting and accomplishing the goals themselves. Basically to narrow down what you should be focusing on, you can choose to work any goal that you feel is necessary for your health, stability and happiness.&lt;br /&gt;These are goals that no matter how much time you invest in accomplishing them, you will always feel that your time was well invested.&lt;br /&gt;Goal setting is nothing more than a formal process for personal planning. By setting goals on a routine basis you decide what you want to achieve, and then move in a step-by-step manner towards the achievement of these goals. The process of setting goals and targets allows you to choose where you want to go in life. By knowing exactly what you want to achieve, you know what you have to concentrate on to do it. You also learn to recognize what is actually nothing more than a distraction.&lt;br /&gt;Goal setting is a standard technique used by professional athletes, successful business people and high achievers in all fields. It gives you long-term vision and provides you with short-term motivation.&lt;br /&gt;It helps to focus your attention and knowledge which helps you to organize your resources. By setting sharp and clearly defined goals, you can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals. You can see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless effort.&lt;br /&gt;By setting goals, you will also raise your self confidence as you recognize your and ability to meet the goals that you have set. The process of achieving goals and seeing this achievement gives you confidence that you will be able to achieve higher and more difficult goals later on.&lt;br /&gt;Goals are set on a number of different levels. The first step in picking out the goals you should concentrate on starts by sitting down and looking at the big picture. What do you want to accomplish, do, be and have in your life?&lt;br /&gt;Second, you break these down into the smaller targets that you must hit so that you reach your overall lifetime goals. The process I use to pick out the goals I should concentrate on after I have my master list is very similar to an elimination tournament.&lt;br /&gt;I first categorize the goals into health, financial, relationship and recreation. I make separate elimination sheets for each category. On the left of the sheet I list the goals. Then I clump them in two's. I then push forward the winner of the two based on my motivation and desire to accomplish that goal. When the eliminations are done, I have the winning goals from each important group that I should concentrate on.&lt;br /&gt;This keeps your focus on the goals that are truly important to you. When its important to you and both your motivation and desire are high, you greatly increase the probability that you will take the appropriate actions needed to fulfill your goals.&lt;br /&gt;Finally, once you have your major goals, you start working towards achieving them. True friends appreciate honesty -- not simple politeness. Being honest is one of the best ways to honor yourself. Strive for self-integrity.&lt;br /&gt;3. Be kind to yourself and others. Like honesty, kindness and compassion feed the soul. In the high pressure situation of relocating or in the throws of adjustment, you can find yourself on edge and much less patient with others. When you find yourself being really tough on yourself think about how you would be and what you would say to your best friend. When you are being really tough with someone else (most often our nearest and dearest) think about whether your best friend would still be your best friend if you treated them this way.&lt;br /&gt;4. Relax. I know it is easier said than done but worrying and stressing gets us nowhere fast. When you find yourself full of anxiety and frustration about something (the unknowns of the new location, leaving familiar people and places) remind yourself that life is an adventure and that it takes a certain kind of person to be willing to do what you are doing. Look forward to creating your new life.&lt;br /&gt;5. Be thankful. And I don't mean a quick "thanks". I mean really look around the room you are in, the company you keep, the sky, your health, your children, your dog, whatever it is that you can genuinely be thankful for and let yourself really feel that appreciation. When you are full of appreciation, your perspective on life shifts for the better and helps us breath in our experiences and truly live rather than rushing through life to get things done.&lt;br /&gt;6. Don't over-schedule yourself. Whether it is your way of being helpful or efficient, the nature of what your professional or personal life demands, saying yes to too many things is saying a big fat NO to your well-being. Don't bother yourself or others with long explanations, simply say "I can't" when you can't. Honor the preciousness of your time and only do the things you really WANT to do. This includes our goodbye dinners -- have a big gathering instead!&lt;br /&gt;7. Tell the people you love that you love them. Very similar to being thankful and being honest, letting people you care for know that you love them feeds their soul and yours. Don't ever assume that they "know" you do. Letting people know how you feel WILL matter in a week, month and year from now. This will also deepen the relationships you are physically leaving ensuring the possibility to not only continue them but improve them while you are away.&lt;br /&gt;8. Be quiet. As little as 15 minutes a day of quiet time can make a profound difference in the quality of your life. Don't be afraid, it doesn't have to be meditation (and it can be) but turn off your cell phone, close your door, no t.v., no radio, get comfortable, close your eyes, and enjoy your own company. Use this time to focus on what you really want and how you want your life to be.&lt;br /&gt;9. Take care of yourself. I know that you know what to do to take care of yourself. It is what your grandmother and your mother taught you -- eat breakfast, drink water, exercise, and get plenty of rest but so many of us say I'll start tomorrow, or on Monday; or after I get settled. There are thousands of excuses AND there are NONE. Some of us dreamed of becoming astronauts, and others dreamed of becoming a doctor, nurse, pilot, sailor, explorer, and so forth, but whatever the dream we all thought of becoming great heroes in some way shape or form.&lt;br /&gt;So the question here is this: Did you grow up to live happily ever after? Probably not, or else you would not be hearing this lesson. Somewhere along the line you gave up your dream and became a “grown up.” You were told that you were becoming a responsible adult the day you gave up your dreams and accepted the sad reality of work, sleep, and trying to have a life in between. We thought we became wise when we gave up our childhood dreams; we condemned ourselves to the dull boring reality that someone else told us was the way to do things. We bought in to the reality of others, and now we suffer and wonder why we are not happy.&lt;br /&gt;What nobody told us is this: What we think we cause to exist. Had we kept our dreams, we would have caused them to become reality; our reality. The physical is influence by thought, the old school teaching of we are what our bodies and circumstance make us to be is passing away, and is being replaced with the truth that we are what we make ourselves to be through thought. We would have been a king or queen had we only been allowed to follow our hearts instead of our heads.&lt;br /&gt;The good news is it is not too late to live happily ever after. As long as there is breath in your body you can still change your life and have your dreams come true. So try to remember your dreams from your youth. What were they? Write them down on paper: NOW!&lt;br /&gt;If those dreams are too silly then you can change them to something close. Say your childhood dream was to be a clown, you do not really want that now, but being an actor would be close enough. However if you still want to be a clown you can, there are schools for clowns, and even clown unions. If it is your dream, keep it in front of you and soon it will grow from idea to reality.&lt;br /&gt;Look at what you have written, and add some detail as you see fit. Look at your dream every day, keep your dream always in your thoughts, soon you will see doors of opportunity open, resources become available, circumstances going in your favor, all of them adding together to help your dream become reality.&lt;br /&gt;Set some small goals and follow them to completion, this will prove to you that you can be a success. To do this sometimes we have to break down the tools we need to discover ways to achieve relaxation, which helps us to enhance our self-esteem.&lt;br /&gt;Now start by breaking down what relaxation and self-esteem means to you to find the tools you need successfully to manage your goals.&lt;br /&gt;The Break Down First, you need tranquility. This brings you peace, calmness and rest. You can find this level of serenity by putting up your feet. Recline for a moment and think about rest:&lt;br /&gt;Rest Rest is the process of taking it easy. When you take it easy by putting up your feet, you start to see the need to add recreation into your life so that you achieve relaxation.&lt;br /&gt;Relaxation relaxation involves the process of lessening the load, or reducing stress if you will. The obvious tools are recreation, leisure, entertainment, rest, stress reduction, letting up, and moderation.&lt;br /&gt;Moderation moderation is the process of gaining control over your life. You need such tools as the ability to restrain yourself. This involves self-control, which balances your temperance and is the opposite of excess. Therefore, look for areas in your life where you use or do something excessive. For example, do you fail to exercise? If you do this excessively you will in time, find yourself battling more than poor self-esteem. Rather you will put finding solutions to health problems that emerge from failure to exercise the muscles, joints, etc.&lt;br /&gt;Stress reduction to achieve self-worth you need to get rid of some of the stress that mounts up to anxiety, depression, worry, pain and so on. The tools you need are exercise, diet, time management, goals, plans, relaxation, and so on.&lt;br /&gt;To relieve stress you may want to consider leisure time. Leisure is the time you take hold of that promotes spare time. Take a vacation. If you cannot afford a vacation then take a vacation from your stress. Give your mind and body the freedom it needs to relax. Enjoy some spare time with your favorite recreation.&lt;br /&gt;Recreation recreation could be a hobby you enjoy. Find something that interest you and spend time enjoying it. Find something that you can do to exercise both the body and mind, such as exercise or sports. Reform your mind by taking this pastime and using it to your advantage. Enjoy something entertaining.&lt;br /&gt;Entertainment entertainment is activities that you can enjoy. You need to acquire a pursuit desire to enjoy hobbies, leisure time, and so on. Remove any distractions or diversions so that you enjoy the full benefits of stress reduction. You need repose. Repose – your body and mind expects rest and relaxation. When your mind and body receives what it needs you, self-esteem will improve. Take time to recline once each day. Find your tranquility and peace by achieving recuperative sleep, calmness and so on. Lounge a bit to relax. You need balance.&lt;br /&gt;Balance balance is your equilibrium. Balance is the key to succeeding at anything you put your mind to. Sense of balance will give you poise, stability and you will see a need to work steadfast toward your goals.&lt;br /&gt;To achieve balance you need a weighing scale to maintain equilibrium. Keep upright and move toward your goals by setting reminders. Use a surplus of tools and techniques for enhancing self-esteem.
